HELP Section: Frequently Asked Questions

If your question does not appear below, please submit it using this form and chances are we'll add it to the list.

1. I am getting an error message; what to do?

If you get an error message, always start by enabling your cookies:
First go to Tools menu in your Internet Explorer. Then choose Internet Options. Go to the Privacy Tab and Click Sites. Type in hilltoprescue.org (no www is required), click Allow, and click OK. This should help 99% of the issues.
If you are still not getting desired results, please fill out the tech support form here. All tickets will be reviewed and addressed.

2. When I click Continue button on the Volunteer application nothing happens. What’s wrong?
If you are filling out a volunteer application and are “stuck” on the first page, and the system is not letting you move further, most probably you did not fill out one of the required fields – look through the form to see if there are any fields highlighted in red. Also look at the top of the page to see if the system sent any other messages. This usually resolves 99% of issues related to the volunteer application.

3. What is the process of application?
The application process is quite straightforward: after a volunteer submits an application, our coordinator reviews the submission and then schedules a time to interview the applicant. Usually this happens within 2 business days of submission, though exceptions happen. During your interview, the coordinator confirm your dates (sorry but sometimes we are just full and cannot accommodate more volunteers and other times we can really use help). The coordinator will also explain to you all the details of your stay and will answer any questions you may have.

4. Can I stay longer than 14 days?
Currently the application limits a single stay request to 14 days. If you would like to stay longer, please address this issue with the coordinator during your interview.

5. When will I hear back about my application?
You should hear back within 2 business days about your application.

6. How can I modify my application details?
If you made a mistake or would like to modify your application, you will need to contact the volunteer coordinator (volunteer@hilltoprescue.org). Due to privacy concerns we do not allow access to the applications once they are submitted.

7. I am a part of a group; is the application process for groups different?
If you are a part of a group (member or a leader), the application process for a group is somewhat different. The group leader will function as a volunteer coordinator and will brief the team on all the details of the trip. The leader will need to contact Hilltop Rescue and Relief volunteer coordinator to find out if there is availability for the requested dates and also get login information for group registration. After that, the leader will fill out the group details and upon approval by the Hilltop Coordinator, group members will be sent emails with notifications to sign up. Group members will need to click the unique identifying links in their messages in order to join a group. Simply filling out an application will not qualify one. If you a part of a group and you have fill out an application without going through the group interface, please fill this form out and provide your name and group details.

8. I am a Hilltop Rescue veteran and would like to come back; do I need to fill out the application again?
If you are a veteran, you can simply email the volunteer coordinator to check availability and once it is confirmed, your trip will be scheduled. In the future the system will support veteran functionality but at this point it has not been implemented yet.

9. I can’t log into my group’s profile; what’s wrong?
If you are a group leader and trying to come back and modify your group’s data and can’t login, please make sure you are entering the pin and then clicking Log In. Sometimes people hit Enter key instead of clicking Log In and on some browsers that behavior does not automatically log you in. If you are still having troubles, please contact the project manager.

10. Emergency?
If you have an emergency with the website (website only), please email or call the system administrator 310-980-7882.
